The present Civil Parish of Winscombe and Sandford is a combination of the ancient ecclesiastical Parish of Winscombe and areas surrounding the former hamlets of Barton, Oakridge, Sandford, Sidcot and Woodborough. The parish has a population of about 4500 and covers approximately six square miles of countryside on the western edge of Somerset's Mendip Hills.

  NEW COLLECTION DAYS FOR RECYCLING AND WASTE COLLECTION

PROPOSED 159FT PYLONS THROUGH THE PARISH! A public meeting is to be held on the field at Winscombe Community Centre on Thursday 24th June, 7.30pm that will be attended by John Penrose MP and speakers from protest groups in neighbouring parishes. Come along to find out more and to register your concern.

Planning application 10/P/0592/O submitted

Outline planning application for access, layout and scale, with appearance and landscaping reserved for subsequent approval, for the erection of 24no. dwellings comprising 14no. live/work units, 3no. retirement bungalows and 7no. affordable housing units and the provision of an area of public open space.

 

This application was considered by the Parish Council Planning Committee at their meeting held on 10th May and will be considered by NSC South Area Committee on 23rd June.

NEW COLLECTION DAYS            

FOR RECYCLING AND WASTE COLLECTION!

From Monday 3rd May 2010 all collections in Winscombe and Sandford will take place on a Monday. Collections will take place on bank holidays except at Christmas and collections will start at 7am. New collection calendars can be collected from the Parish Office or by visiting the NSC website http://www.n-somerset.gov.uk/Environment/Recycling+and+waste/Recycling+Lookup.htm
