Minutes of the Cemetery and Allotments Committee meeting  held at the Ilex lane Cemetery, on  Friday 3rd March 2006 at  9 30 a.m.

Councillors present; Ms D Powell [Chair], Mr C Sampson, Mrs P Witter,

 Mrs L Rampton [Clerk]

1.]Apologies for absence. Mr K Symons, Mrs M Ballard , Mr J Gower [Advisor]

2.] Minutes from previous meeting11/11/05.

These had been accepted as a correct record of the meeting at the17th November meeting of the full Parish Council.

3.]Matters Arising.

a] Roman sites in Cemetery Field. Clerk to contact John Matthews by letter

b] New Box Hedge due to be planted shortly. J Barattini to supervise re correct position

d] Construction of a soak away outside garage, to include general tidy up of area. Quotation from   T Nyamunda   would be obtained shortly.

 4] Declarations of interest  none

5] Public participation  none

6]Strawberry line Access off Ilex  Lane 

Registration of land completed. Title No ST242 656

Procedure for lease now in hands of solicitors at N Somerset 

7]Cemetery and field review

a] Parish review sheet 5 completed for audit and risk assessment

b] Green waste. A North Som Green bag is now in use for green waste. There was a problem of disposal of wreaths with metal frame and flowers. The Orderly had been most helpful in resolving the situation

8]. Allotments

a] Parish review sheet 6 completed for audit and risk assessment.

 b] Allotment allocation/waiting list.      2 x ½ plots will shortly become vacant

The Clerk should offer these to no 1 & 2 on the waiting list thus reducing it to5 + 2 from Banwell Parish

c] Plot 13a .No evidence of any cultivation recently. Clerk to write to Tenant, using standard letter

d] New  flexible Hose need on stand pipe. Clerk to arrange this be fixed

9] Finance 2006-2007 Budget £1700

10.] Report for Parish Assembly. This is to be given by Denise Powell

1]Trees

a] Prunus cerasifera ‘Hesei‘planted by Mrs S Wosfield on 20/3/2000 on the boundary fence needs attention .Clerk was asked to contact Mrs Worsfield

b] Mr  Chandler whose wife is buried plot 203 has requested to plant a tree.

Clerk to write and state . The only possible position would be on the boundary fence at the end of the new cremation plots. It would be their responsibility to plant and maintain until established. The exact details of tree species and any proposed plaque would need to be approved by the C&A committee. Should the tree become diseased the P C would have the right to remove it

2] Next meetings on site in 2006

Review conditions for Cemetery especially in respect of infringement of space by bulbs and additional pots
