A meeting of the Play Area & Skate Park Committee was held on

Monday 18th January 2010, at 7.30 p.m, The Amesbury Room, Winscombe Community Centre

Committee Members Present:    Mrs. A Brading (chairman) (ABr), Mrs P Cram (PC),

Mr Archie Forbes (AF), Mr G Luckett (GLu), Mrs V McGann(VM)

1. To Receive Apologies for Absence – None Received

2. Declaration of Interest – None Received

3. Update of the minutes of the last meeting, dated 14^th December 2009:

There were none other than those included as Agenda Items

4. Public Participation: an opportunity for members of the parish to make a statement –  None

5. Financial Update - A detailed statement showing actual expenditure against budget for the financial year 2009/10 was handed to all committee members

6. Play Pathbuilder Update at both Winnowing End and WMRG:

(a) – To discuss funding.

The Chair confirmed that the overall budget for both sites was a figure of £40,000 and works must be completed by 31^st March 2010.

(b) – To discuss equipment

For the benefit of all committee members the Chair confirmed the pieces of equipment being considered for both sites:

Winnowing End: - Zip Wire and Fusion Unit – Tony Moore, North Somerset Council has met a couple of contractors on site and, in addition to the proposed equipment, suggestions were made to remove the old flat swings and cradle swings and replace them with a basket swing.  Also it was suggested to install a Supernova Roundabout in the area by the entrance gate.  The committee felt this was a good idea and the Assistant Clerk was asked to write to Tony Moore, North Somerset Council for more detailed information.

WMRG – Rodeo Board and Spinner Bowl – both have been ordered and the committee requested an up to date position regarding the ordering of the snake seat.  The potential moving of the infant area fence, which has been suggested by North Somerset Council was completely rejected.

It was resolved that the Assistant Clerk write to Tony Moore at North Somerset Council for the above information..

7. Winnowing End Play Area

(a) – To discuss possible repositioning of infants swings – the committee are looking to remove the old flat swings and relocating the cradle swings (orange).  Refer minute 6 – Winnowing End above. 

(b) – To discuss repair of surrounding fence – the chain link fence at the front of the play area is in need of repair and quotations are to be obtained.

(c) – To discuss tidying up of brambles at front of play area – once again quotations are to be obtained to tidy up the area.

(d) – To discuss purchase of infant springer – quotations are to be obtained for the purchase and installation of a two seater infant springer.

It was unanimously resolved that quotations received are subject to approval  by parish council at the next parish council meeting dated 18^th February 2010.

8. WMRG Play Area

         (a) – To discuss up to date position of seafront bench acquisition – still ongoing – liaising with North

         Somerset Council

(b) – To discuss up to date position regarding litter bins  - still ongoing – liaising with North Somerset Council
