136. Planning Applications
a.) 08/P/0513/F Mr M Kempson, Land adjacent to Kelvin House, Bridgwater Road, Winscombe BS25 1NW
Erection of a dental surgery JP
This application for a new build is outside the settlement boundary and within the AONB. The proposed development is likely to give rise to additional traffic movement to the detriment of highway safety. The proposed dental surgery, by reason of its design, location and prominence in the landscape will adversely affect the landscape character of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Beauty and contradicts policy ECH 8 of the North Somerset Replacement Local Plan.
Ward Councillor Harley should be advised of the concerns of the Planning Committee and the application called before NSC South Area Committee.
The Planning Committee recommend refusal of this planning application.
Proposed: Mrs A Brading Seconded: Mr S Bridges All in favour
b.) 08/P/0527/F Sidcot Friends Housing Society, Sewell House, Belmont Road, Winscombe BS25 1LQ

Planning Applications 07/P/3232/F & 07/P/3233/LB St Monica Trust, former Sandford Railway Station Site, Station Road, Sandford were approved by the NSC committee. It would appear that works are now in progress to clear the site. Mrs Brading advised that a meeting had taken place between the Trust and Strawberry Line representatives where plans for the museum were discussed.
140. Any Other Business
08/P/0632/T2 22 Sidcot Lane application to carry out works to trees with a preservation order:
Beech x 1 and tulip tree x 1 – reduce size of tree overhanging house to give 2 – 3m clearance.
This application is made by a neighbour, whose house in Sidcot Drive is very close to the afore-mentioned trees, allowing squirrels to gain access to their property through open windows.
Due to time constraints for this minor non-contentious planning application, the Committee Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Clerk, in-line with Parish Council Standing Orders will advise NSC that the Parish Council has no objection to this application.
