A number of additions are to be recommended to the Parish Council for inclusion in the final panel: 1.) A small amendment is to be made to the area shown as the Award Land. 2.) A reference to the R.I.G.S status of the site is to be included, possibly in the area of the AONB reference. 3.) Gates at the end of Mikes Path and exiting into Uplands Cottages should be included. 4.) The current year the panel is installed should be added beneath the W&S PC Logo.
Proposed: Mrs A Brading, Seconded: Mr J Westlake, All in favour
The proposed additions/amendments should be considered by the Parish Council and the Committee Chairman will advise Mr Hardcastle accordingly of possible changes.
5. Registration of Land The NSC Archaeologist, Mr Russett has discussed the recording of the Award Land with the Committee Chairman. On receipt of the necessary equipment, the NSC Officer will attend a training course and then be in a position to carry out a survey to accurately record the area. This information will be required to voluntarily register the land at Land Registry.
6. The Forge Following an inspection by Mr Russett, it was thought that the forge could originally have been a cupola furnace. Further investigation will be carried out by Mr Russett and the conclusion to this forwarded to the Parish Office. Concern was expressed by the NSC Archaeologist regarding the build up of earth behind the back wall and consideration should be given to having this removed along with the ivy as this is eroding the top of the wall. Repairs to the forge/furnace should be carried out using the original type mortar.
7. Party Fence telephone contact had been received from new owners of the ski centre requesting that barbed wire is not removed from any fence until they have carried out an assessment of the site. The Clerk was requested to make further contact following the May meeting of the Parish Council to ascertain the current position.
8. Tree Report It was reported that trees are still falling as recently as a week ago. This is considered common practice for vegetation on a slag heap.
9. Inspection Sheet the quarterly sheet will be completed by the Committee Chairman.
10. Any Other Business Two Parishioners have stopped and challenged quad bike riders on the bridleway. Further details will be obtained by the Committee Chairman and a report made to NSC and ski centre owners if appropriate. Mountain bikes, although legal on bridleways are also considered to present a danger.
Mr Westlake showed a cannon ball found behind the forge to the Committee.
