A meeting of the Award Land Committee was held on

Monday  21st July 2008,  at 7.00 p.m, on site – Quarry Road, Sandford Rd, Winscombe

 

 

Committee Members Present:    Mrs. A Brading, Mrs P Cram, Mr A Forbes, Mr G Luckett,

                                                        Mr J Westlake (chairman)

1.             To elect a Committee Chairman – Nominations received by deadline date:  Mr J Westlake.

Mr Westlake was unanimously elected Chairman.

2.             To Receive the Chairman’s Declaration of Acceptance of Office

          The Declaration of Acceptance of Office was duly signed and received by the Assistant Clerk

3.              Apologies for Absence:

4.             Update of the minutes of the last meeting, already signed at main Parish Council meeting as being a correct record: - None required

5.             Declaration of Interest – None Received

6.             Public Participation –  None

7.             Registration of Award Land – Vince Russett has no machine at the moment but he hopes to obtain one in

August 2008 which measures the land to be registered.  AF will keep committee informed of progress.

Consideration needs to be given by the Parish Council into registering the land in the next financial year.

8.             Repairs to the Forge – Investigations to be made as to what type of mortar was originally used on the forge and how much the required improvements to consolidate the bricks around the forge would cost.  Quotes to be obtained.  Enquiries to be made into grant availability for improving and preserving the site.  There is a lot of ivy and brambles covering the forge which need to be removed as soon as possible.  Enquiries to be made to see if the Community Service Team could carry out the necessary work.  The retaining bolts in the sleepers need to be cut – Joe Cornish to look into this.

9.             Goblin Coombe Volunteers – Work regarding the management of woodland and general clearing of land needs to be carried out imminently as it is very overgrown.  Hedges etc cannot be cut until the end of bird nesting season but the footpaths and grass need to be dealt with immediately.  Enquiries to be made to see if the Community Service Team could strim this area on a regular basis.  Alternate quotes to be obtained at the same time.

10.         Badgers Setts – Mr J Westlake has obtained his badger licence between the dates of 01/07/08 – 31/10/08. However the ground has not deteriorated since May – JW will keep an eye on it.
